ON OR IN THE WATER

Snorkelling

Snorkelling is one of Rarotonga's most popular activities and is enjoyed by many visitors.
Popular spots, featuring a wide variety of colourful coral and exotic fish, safely within the surrounding reef are:

  • MURI BEACH where you can explore area between the islet and the reef.
  • TIKIOKI - near Fruits of Rarotonga - has exceptional swimming and you will see rainbow fish, large parrotfish, angelfish, trevally and many more.
  • BLACKROCK is usually the calmest place to snorkel because of the trade winds.

Outer islands too have some special snorkelling spots.

Snorkelling equipment is often available from your accommodators, or can be purchased in downtown Avarua.
